WordPlay #5: “Appointment with a Twin”

Hello again! Still slow with updating this blog. I guess I hit the inspirational low of the month (or was it the season?). Today, another story for Nika Harper’s WordPlay vlog. This time, it’s a ghost story. Not the creepy kind, I should add. Also, taken from a much larger project of mine, so you might feel unsatisfied at the end of it… The prompts were “lilies to say goodbye” and “a needed conversation”. The original (though not much different) version can be found on the Geek & Sundry forums. Enjoy!

WordPlay #4: “All That Glitters”

A new week, a new WordPlay! (yes, still working on that Downton review…) This time, it’s all about dialogues! And when I say “all”, I mean “all”, because that was Nika’s challenge: write a dialogue without indicating who’s speaking. The prompts were “starlight” and “an acoustic guitar”. I initially posted my response on the Geek & Sundry forums, but expanded it for this blog post. Enjoy!

Wordplay #3: “Blue Red Green”

Hi there! I’m sorry for the small number of updates, work has been getting into my way of blogging (we knew it would happen sooner or later…). This post is an extended version of my response to Nika Harper’s WordPlay #3 on the topic of “Noir Fiction“. The prompts were “photographer” and “the other view”. You think you know what’s coming? You don’t. (and I’m very sorry to add that the story also isn’t finished yet…) Comments welcome, as usual.

WordPlay #2: The Shard

It’s poetry time! Nika’s challenge for WordPlay #2 was to write a free verse poem with the prompts “memorie” and “the reason it isn’t there”. I thought about changing my initial poem, but couldn’t find a way to do so. Poetry to me is a lot about mood, and that doesn’t easily lend itself to rewriting. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do.

WordPlay #1: Monday Nights

For WordPlay #1, Nika challenged us to write a short story with the prompts “unbridled enthusiasm” and “guy walks into a bar”. The two earlier versions of my story “Monday Nights” can still be found at the Geek & Sundry forums, here and here. I made only slight changes for this blog version, mostly based on what the Geek & Sundry commenters had to say. Actually, I still like this story a lot. Enjoy!
