NaPoWriMo Day 16

And spring gave summer a pass and changed directly into autumn – to quote Monty Python’s classic Holy Grail movie. At least the weather around here feels that way.

Which means: it’s the perfect time to stay indoors and write another poem with today’s prompt: the Almanac Questionnaire.

You don’t ask questions
And why would you
All your dreams come true
All is well

But they loom behind the corner
Those that want change
Those that hate change
The ones screaming “Let me out!”

We give hope
But live in fear
We sell dreams
But have none

We’re all born naked
But wish for clothes
We lose our minds
But don’t know it

I’m glad I escaped
Found peace in your arms
Or rather – would find it
Don’t ask
