NaPoWriMo Day 22: “Disenchanted Shepherd”

Welcome back! It’s National Poetry Writing Month’s Day 22, otherwise known as “the day after that giant spider invaded my room”. Oh wait …

Today’s prompt (fittingly?): a pastoral about nature, Earth Day, plants and animals. Now, I don’t have a green thumb and tiny creatures that crawl around freak me out, so I’m probably not the best choice for this topic. But I guess that’s why you call it a challenge.

Disenchanted Shepherd

It’s tiny and brown
Crawls around where it should not
Makes me scream out loud

Oh how I love spring
Warm sunshine bathing my skin
But there are drawbacks

Tiny insects abound
Trees and grasses send pollen
I’ll stay inside then
