NaPoWriMo Day 19: “The Green Tattoo”

Happy Sunday! It’s Day 19 of National Poetry Writing Month.

Today’s prompt: write a landay (or several). At first I didn’t know how to approach this, but the examples in the article cited on the NaPoWriMo website were really impressive. Not sure I can match this.

The Green Tattoo

Around my arm winds a green tattoo
A snake to bite me, a punishment to me from you.

In bitter winter, he came around
His arms embraced my grief, his lips silenced every sound.

If I had known you were still alive
No, let’s face it, your love was always sharp like a knife
