NaPoWriMo Day 7: “Penny’s Story”

Hello everyone, it’s Day 7 of National Poetry Writing Month. And just in time for normal work week, spring is back.

Today’s prompt: write a poem about money. Okay, yesterday’s aubade kind of was about money, but that doesn’t really count, I think.

Penny’s Story

On a sunny Monday night

A penny fell to the ground

It kept on shining through the night

Waiting for someone to pick him up

A girl came by, her mother’s grip too tight

A man walked past, but he was too fat

A woman stopped, but only to lighten her cigarette

A boy ran past, losing rose petals at five to nine

A tramp thought he was too small

A flower girl was blind

I think he still lies there today

Waiting for someone to pick him up
