Day 25 of NaPoWriMo – still spring around here, wow. Today’s prompt was to write an anaphora (essentially: use the same word/expression at the beginning of every line).
Which I kind of did, but more importantly, this is a day of sadness for me. After years of letting me watch The Daily Show and the Colbert Report from outside the US, Comedy Central has decided last week that they didn’t need me anymore. No full episodes, not even clips! “You’re so close, yet so far away” the sites now tell me – which feel like a kick to the gut.
I understand that the Internet videos are not available in English speaking countries where the shows are broadcast on (pay TV) channels. But in Germany they aren’t available on any TV channel – not even the cut-together global edition. This move doesn’t make any sense to me (and many others, judging from the comments on Twitter, Facebook and the shows’ websites) and I can only hope it will be reverted soon – or that they will at least give us some kind of reason, like “Because we can.” If you want to fight illegal streaming sites, this is definitely not the way to go.
