NaPoWriMo Day 8: “Children of Summer”

Hello again! Day 8 of NaPoWriMo, and somehow I’m still finding the time to write a new haiku… Today’s challenge was to rewrite another poem – and I skipped that. But I decided to keep the eerie atmosphere. My “prompt” was a newspaper headline I came across the other day: “The morning’s orphans”. The article was about the 1994 Rwandan Genocide, so you’re warned…

Children of Summer

A strawberry field

Amidst the red, skeletons

No one will pick them
